'Emmanuelle Béart' (qv) was born August 14, 1965 in Saint Tropez, France. She lived together with her brothers and sisters on a farm in Gassin not far from Saint Tropez in the Provence (southern France) because her father, French singer and poet Guy Béart didn't want Emanuelle be effected by the glamour world of Paris. When she was 13 she saw 'Romy Schneider (I)' (qv) playing in the movie _Mado (1976)_ (qv). From that time on she wanted to be an actress. Her parents sent her for three years to Montreal in Canada. So she could learn English. However in Montreal she was engaged for a 'Robert Altman (I)' (qv) movie that was never made. After returning to France she took drama classes and got her first tv-role in _Raison perdue (1984) (TV)_ (qv). 'David Hamilton (I)' (qv) the photographer/director was impressed by her beauty and gave her a role in _Premiers désirs (1983)_ (qv). She met her spouse 'Daniel Auteuil' (qv) making _Amour en douce, L' (1985)_ (qv). The film which made her famous in France was _Manon des sources (1986)_ (qv). She played the role of a blonde shepherd dancing nude in the fields. Director 'Tom McLoughlin (I)' (qv) choose her out of 5000 candidates for her first Hollywood picture, _Date with an Angel (1987)_ (qv). Emmanuelle is a very sensitive and a perfectionist. For the part of Camille in the film _Un coeur en hiver (1992)_ (qv) she had taken violin lessons for a whole year. Her biggest success was the art film _Belle noiseuse, La (1991)_ (qv) with 'Michel Piccoli' (qv), directed by 'Jacques Rivette' (qv), as a nude model. Biography written by: Wladimir van Heemst
