Lindsay Lohan Biography

Lindsay Dee Lohan was born in New York City, on 2 July 1986, to 'Dina Lohan' (qv) and 'Michael Lohan (II)' (qv). She began her career at age three as a Ford model, and also made appearances in over sixty television commercials, including spots for The Gap, Pizza Hut, Wendy's, and Jell-O (opposite 'Bill Cosby' (qv)). Lohan made her acting debut in 1996 as the third actress to play Ali Fowler in the television drama _"Another World" (1964)_ (qv). Shortly afterward, she was hand-picked by Oscar-nominated writer 'Nancy Meyers' (qv) as estranged twin sisters in an adaptation by Walt Disney Pictures of a novel by 'Erich Kästner' (qv), which marked Meyers' directorial debut. Lohan's first feature film, _The Parent Trap (1998)_ (qv), a remake of _The Parent Trap (1961)_ (qv), was a modest commercial success, earning her widespread critical acclaim, and a Young Artist award for Best Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film, as well as Blockbuster Entertainment and YoungStar award nominations. After signing a three-movie contract with Disney, she returned to the small screen to star in the made-for-TV movies _Life-Size (2000) (TV)_ (qv) (opposite 'Tyra Banks' (qv)) and _Get a Clue (2002) (TV)_ (qv) (opposite 'Bug Hall' (qv)). She also appeared as Rose in the pilot episode of the short-lived comedy series _"Bette" (2000)_ (qv), which starred 'Bette Midler' (qv). In June 2001, Lohan took a brief hiatus from acting. Her music career was launched over a year later, when Estefan Enterprises made a five-album production deal with her in September 2002, and she signed a recording contract with the reactivated Casablanca Records. But Lohan was not turning her back on her blossoming acting career. Just over a month previously, she had been cast opposite 'Jamie Lee Curtis' (qv) for another Disney adaptation of a novel, this time of a fantasy comedy by 'Mary Rodgers' (qv). _Freaky Friday (2003)_ (qv), a remake of _Freaky Friday (1976)_ (qv), was a huge hit (generating over US$160 million in worldwide box office receipts), and critics were spellbound by delightful performances from Lohan and Curtis (who went on to receive a Golden Globe nomination for her work). In addition, Lohan won the 2004 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Female, as well as a Saturn award nomination and another Young Artist award nomination. Lohan relocated permanently to Los Angeles, California, between projects, and moved into an apartment with fellow actress 'Raven-Symoné' (qv). She also dated pop star 'Aaron Carter (I)' (qv) for a short time. Lohan's next acting role was the title character in the comedy _Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004)_ (qv), a Disney adaptation of the novel by 'Dyan Sheldon' (qv). The film received scathing reviews upon its release and died a quick death at the box office, but even the harshest of critics were impressed by Lohan's charming turn as aspiring actress Lola. Lohan's next project, _Mean Girls (2004)_ (qv) saw her reunite with _Freaky Friday (2003)_ (qv) director 'Mark Waters (VIII)' (qv). Inspired by a non-fiction book by 'Rosalind Wiseman' (qv) and written by _"Saturday Night Live" (1975)_ (qv) scribe 'Tina Fey' (qv), the high-school comedy-drama opened to glowing reviews, and grossed $86 million in the US. This earned her status as a bankable actress, and a salary of $7.5 million for the 'Donald Petrie' (qv) romantic comedy _Just My Luck (2006)_ (qv). One of the most sought-after young actresses in the industry, she starred in _Bobby (2006)_ (qv) (opposite 'Demi Moore' (qv) and 'Sharon Stone (I)' (qv)), the Disney fantasy adventure _Herbie Fully Loaded (2005)_ (qv) (a pseudo-sequel to _The Love Bug (1968)_ (qv)), and the critically acclaimed _A Prairie Home Companion (2005)_. On top of a thriving film career, Lohan also launched a music career, releasing her debut album, called "Speak," which hit shelves in December 2004. In 2009, Lohan launched her own fashion line titled 6126, mainly focusing on the production of women's leggings. By Spring, she launched a self-tanning spray line titled 'Sevin Nyne' and by the end of the year, Lohan became an artistic designer for fashion house Ungaro. Lindsay continues her career in acting, having completed a role in the 2010 action film Machete (2010).

Lindsay Lohan Personal Quotes

  • Life is full of risks anyway, why not take them?
  • I write a lot of lyrics and I'm involved in the producing process, because it's like, if I'm singing it, I want it to be something that I can relate to.
  • If I can change bodies with anyone it would be 'Britney Spears' (qv) because how can you not like 'Britney Spears' (qv)?
  • I am happy being able to play roles with people my age because once you do something really mature there is no turning back.
  • I don't like to talk about politics. If you say you're a Democrat, that'll turn off Republicans, and that's half of your fan base.
  • When I'm walking down the red carpet and everybody is screaming my name, all I'm doing is worrying that they're thinking, like, "Oh, she didn't wave at me, she's such a bitch!
  • I'll probably pursue doing more movies but not horror movies or movies with killers in them. I'll try to stick to happy movies. I want to act and direct like 'Jodie Foster' (qv). I admire her because she went to college and she is still doing the same thing.
  • It's flattering that people want to know so much about me and want to take the time to make up that many things about me.
  • I don't want to keep doing all commercial stuff. But timing is everything. I got this one script where this girl wants to join a Latino gang and she gets raped. I can't be doing that right now. I don't think that's appropriate.
  • But I'm not going to go and lose my virginity in a movie, yet, because the second I do that, you can't go back. That makes me much older in terms of film and on the screen.
  • Girls my age dress so much raunchier than I'd ever imagine myself dressing. I understand that I'm a role model, though, and I have to look out for that. I have a 10-year-old sister, too. But you also want to be appealing to guys and stuff, that's just something girls feel. It's hard. You want to be that girl that's unattainable to all the guys because there are so many other girls out there that are like that.
  • People go to college to find who they are as a person and find what they want to do in life, and I kind of already know that so it would be like I'd be taking a step back or something.
  • "You can't really complain because it's what you have to accept is going to happen when you're in the spotlight, and you want this. And I understand that. At the same time, it's hard when you're just waking up, and you're going out to get your mail and there are people there. It bugs me sometimes, of course, but I don't do it on purpose, you know? I try to just live my life; I'm not doing stuff like that to get noticed." [on not having privacy]
  • "I'm not doing Playboy, no. Never. They contacted my publicist and they asked if I would do their 20 questions spread, which is not a nude photo that they do with it. It's a regular photo. But I do have a Disney movie coming out and a young fan base and I'm not interested in doing Playboy right now in my life." [20 Dec 2004]
  • Say no more than yes, and just make sure you surround yourself with good people.
  • [On relocating to Los Angeles, California and moving in with 'Raven-Symoné' (qv)]: "We met recently at the Vanity Fair shoot and got along. Our apartment complex has chef and maid services."
  • I was sick. I had people sit me down and say, 'You're going to die if you don't take care of yourself.'
  • "Because I'm so much in the spotlight, people lose sight of why I'm in the industry. In fact, I'm doing all this because I love to act. I love to perform, to sing.
  • "I go out because it's a release. Going out for me is about seeing my friends and not working. Being seen is just something that comes along with it.
  • I hate it when people call me a teen queen. The past year has felt like five lifetimes because I've grown up a lot.
  • Wilmer was my first love. But the timing was bad. And there were all these girls around; he would flirt with them. And I couldn't handle that. I really didn't trust him. So that was hard too.
  • ['Samuel L. Jackson' (qv)] "I'm a huge fan of his, and as I was walking off the stage with him he started asking me, 'How are you? Are you OK from your accident?' He said, 'I've seen your movie _Mean Girls (2004)_ (qv) about five times and I love it'. I said, 'Not only is it amazing to hear that from you, but it's so nice to hear that from someone, because all you read is, 'Lindsay is out 'til four in the morning partying, da, da, da, da'".
  • I don't even know how to take a break, because I go crazy. I just sit in a room and I don't know what to do. I went to the Metropolitan Museum and just sat there. But they didn't take any pictures of that, which sucks, because that would have been more interesting than pictures of me coming out of a club.
  • I have this Playboy book called 'Redheads', and I was reading all these things about how redheads are more passionate and apparently they're much more sexual than girls with other hair colors. I think I'm more sexual than my friends. More comfortable in my skin. I'm a sexual person, definitely.
  • It's so weird that I went to rehab. I always said I would die before I went to rehab.
  • Partying and having all of those pictures taken distracts from the work that I do. It's not why I started acting. I didn't get into acting to be written about. It kind of just happened - so I accept that it's my life. But there are some things that I can do to make changes and grow up. I want to act like a woman rather than a teenager. I am doing the best I can. It was hard surrendering and having people tell me what to do. It was really humbling for me, but I liked how I was treated as a normal person. I kept the common areas clean. I liked making coffee for the gym the best. I'm planning a trip to Africa during the second week in December. I'm working with the American Red Cross, but it is not finalized yet. I just want to apologize to any of my fans that look up to me, especially my younger fans, for setting the examples that I didn't mean to set. That is one of the reasons that I want to change things. I don't want to be known as that person. I have a younger sister and she looks up to me, too. All the negative stuff that gets said hurts my feelings, it hurts my sister, Ali, and my family.
  • It's hard in L.A. not to go out, it gets lonely. Being an actress is lonely, and I never want to be alone. I hate sleeping alone.
  • I'm Irish-Italian so I've got a really bad temper.
  • I talk about my impulses with my therapist -- I have a shopping problem; I love to shop too much.
  • I want to get a nomination. I want to win an Oscar. I want to be known for more than, like, going out. For being 'the party girl.' I hate that. I bust my ass when I'm filming and when I have time off, yeah, I like to go out and dance.
  • I say too much sometimes, but I'm honest, that's the important thing.
